Texas Hill Country

We might be biased about our beloved Texas, but if you haven’t been to “real Texas” yet then you’re missing out! Besides all of the great wine, cute towns, and colorful nature trails, driving along U.S. Route 290 to 281 needs to be on your bucket list. Starting in Austin and working your way to Burnet, Texas, you will see some of the most beautiful Bluebonnet fields that you will ever lay eyes on.

Route 66, Illinois to California

This iconic American highway stretches nearly 2,400 miles and is dotted with must-see places along the way. Notable, landmarks include Cadillac Ranch, El Morro National Monument, and Wigwam Motel. Do your research before pulling out of your driveway and look up other fun points of interest to visit along the way!

New Orleans, Louisiana

If you think New Orleans is is only about Mardi Gras, then think again! New Orleans, or Nola, boats a large lineup of festivals including French Quarter Festival, Jazz Fest, Greek Fest, NOLA Oyster Festival, and the list goes on. Besides getting to walk around the French Quarter with a beignet from Cafe Du Monde or stumble down Bourbon Street with a to-go cup, Nola is the perfect place to embrace the best spring festival –  New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest.

Charleston, South Carolina

If you like history, southern charm, Spanish Moss, and things that look like they could be haunted then Charleston is the place for you! This gorgeous town has stories crawling all over it. Some of the city’s best-known festivals take place in the spring including the famous Spring Festival of Houses and Gardens.

Brockway Mountain, Michigan

Brockway Mountain is a perfect example of a northern paradise. Located on a remote stretch of a mountain road at the northern tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, this area runs along Brockway Mountain and has panoramic views of Lake Superior that extend all the way to Isle Royale National Park on a clear day. Don’t wait to visit this beauty because bad weather shuts it down but a spring visit will include wildflowers, unique species, and migrating birds.

The Pacific Coast Highway, California

There can’t be a “best road trips” list that doesn’t mention Highway 1 in California. Although the classic coastal stretch between Los Angeles and San Francisco can be pricey, it is defiantly worth the planning and saving. You can complete this trip in about six hours or over a few days depending on your budget and how much sight seeing you want to do.
